As teachers the Christmas holidays are normally the only holidays when we really truly switch off. Working in education we are always keeping our eye out for the next new idea and have lots of other fabulous ones running round our head. We may pick up on a new song that we want to choreograph to or see a film that inspires our next lesson. It’s not just our job; it is our life. I get asked regularly what would I do if I didn’t dance. I have no idea! I realised a long time ago this was a door that I can never close. Dance is who I am.
My daughter asked me a few weeks ago ‘what is a passion?’ I explained it is something that you want to eat, live and breath every day. Of course we have our ‘bad’ days. That is life! It is a roller coaster but if we are doing what we love then that can soften the blow during the tough times. I can safely say that dance education is my passion.
We speak a lot about New Year’s resolutions at this time of year. I would like to think I will be doing more of the same and continue to deliver the best possible dance sessions, consultancy and training expertise to schools and preschools. However, with a growing business, my time has become more precious than ever so I think my New Year’s resolution will be to make sure I am using it wisely.
I love my job and I am looking forward to visiting many more schools and educational establishments in 2019. Hope everyone is rested and ready for the new term ahead. I know I am!
